Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) is testing a "Spotify Tickets" website where it will sell concert tickets directly to fans, Music Ally reported.
That site is live with seven artists and their shows in a few states. Tickets are coming from the artists' own presale allocations for the shows.
That move would seem to be at odds with key ticket partners such as Ticketmaster (NYSE:LYV), though Spotify clarifies that it's focused on presales instead of primary ticketing. Live Nation (LYV) is up 2.5% Wednesday afternoon, while Spotify is 4.1% higher.
