Retail sales cool more than expected in September

  • September Retail Sales: 0.0% M/M vs. +0.2% consensus and +0.4% prior (revised from +0.3%).
  • On a Y/Y basis, retail sales increased 8.2%. Total sales for the July-September 2022 period climbed 9.2% from the same period a year ago.
  • Ex-gas and autos: +0.3% M/M vs. +0.4% consensus and +0.6% prior (revised from +0.3%).
  • Retail sales (less autos): +0.1% M/M vs. -0.1% consensus and -0.1% prior (revised from -0.3%).
  • Retail Sales Control Group: +0.4% M/M vs. +0.3% consensus and % prior.
  • On Thursday, September CPI rose more than expected
