New home sales slide less than expected in September, August figure revised down

  • September New Home Sales: -10.9% M/M to 603K vs. 585K consensus and 677K prior (revised from 685K).
  • -17.6% from September 2021.
  • The median sales price of new homes sold was $470.6K, up from $436.8K in August. The average sales price was $517.7K vs. $521.8K in August.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale stood at 462K, representing 9.2 months' supply at the current sales rate. That's up from 461K at the end of August.
  • Earlier this week, (Oct. 25) home prices drop much more than expected in August: S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller.
