Just when the stock was getting to a more reasonable level... oh well. That's Costco. 7% Rev increase when the last inflation report was 7% isn't that impressive especially in the month of Dec. Was hoping for $425 or better. I think it goes there but maybe not. Still way overvalued on a historical basis.
I
@Trader 611 7% inflation means little to Costco given they get a much better price and it sold before payment. That is a poor gauge of impact.

@IDRILL4GASOIL 7% inflation rate affects everyone and it will have an effect on Costco too but sure, they can probably manage it better than other companies. The stock is overvalued and margins matter. Costco has tremendous power to increase cash flow at the drop of a hat, but is that already priced into the stock? Guess we'll find out.
I
@Trader 611 yes, they have the best control over their destiny. Is it over priced, right now no it is fully priced. I really don’t think they are worried. They leavers other don’t.

Well managed company best of breed COST, great stock for a long term portfolio.

Costco goes down after this little pop. Sub $400 please.

A few hundred or so is from my family. Costco is doing well and is expanding in areas that companies like Walmart and Bestbuy were never able to go to, aka China and Japan
V
@Karl Kelly they're even present here in France and expanding.
Karl Kelly profile picture
@Vass Soliotopoulos Yep, they have found a way to expand outside of US/Canada and are slowly but surely expanding in many areas.

@Karl Kelly spain too

keeping up with inflation...still very pricey at 32x P/E

@MJL987 Needs to go down to at least 22 PE before I scoop

@Murad Shawar Given it still has great growth projections, I would argue it's cheaper right now than it will be at it's next earnings.
I
@Murad Shawar keep waiting

The headline choice of words, ”earns…sales” is technically incorrect and confusing.
Must every thing go down? Can there be no standards left in our modern society - none at all?

@Current$ea While I agree with you that the phrasing is odd, it's hardly confusing. All you really need to read in that sentence is "$23.8B in sales". The rest is irrelevant fluff anyway.
L
Looking for $425 to add. Not sure if we'll see it unless everything goes to hell. But there's a fair chance of everything going to hell.
s
@zingerizer me too waiting patiently. Praying for 400
L
@sdoc Up $30 today (01/06/23). Seems completely irrational, and I really like this company and hold it.

COST: King of all retail. Long live the king.
w
@smikhail Lol- sales in line with inflation…no net growth

@1winner
Respectfully, how many current retailers can make that claim? Smh..

I would be interested in knowing what percentage of the 23.8B was 'made in China'
ChuckXX profile picture
@Reality Chacer They only have 2 stores in China with 2 more in the process of being built. So it would be tiny in the grand scheme of things. They have 847 total stores.

@ChuckXX
Question was 'made in China' not 'sold in China'
bazooooka profile picture
@ChuckXX i think he likely meant what % of the products sold have some Chinese supply chain components.
t
Keeping revenue up with inflation so unit sales volume must be stable..
w
@trentbridge hmmm or unit sales volume is down and prices up…
f
@trentbridge Keeping up with inflation? That's a lot of extra hot dog combos.

@1winner Based on what I'm seeing here in Yucatan, MX, prices are not up and sales volume was insane over the holidays.
