Unusually high number of stocks halted at NYSE open

- The New York Stock Exchange saw an unusual number of halts at the open, initially including such names as Altria Group (NYSE:MO), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), 3M (NYSE:MMM), Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), and McDonalds (NYSE:MCD).
- The exchange, part of Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE), cited limit up limit down pauses. Most have since resumed trading.
- Global Cord Blood (NYSE:CO) was halted for regulatory concern. A number of stocks, including Cemtrex (NASDAQ:CETX) (NASDAQ:CETXP), Relativity Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ:RACY) (RACYU) (NASDAQ:RACYW), Nexters (NASDAQ:GDEVW) (NASDAQ:GDEV), and Yandex (NASDAQ:YNDX), were halted for news pending.
- The three major U.S. stock averages started trading in the red. At 10:07 AM, the Dow -0.6%, Nasdaq -0.7%, and S&P 500 -0.7%.
