Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) CEO Marc Benioff has made changes to the company's top management and also provided a subtle hint about the company's succession plan, Business Insider reported citing an internal memo.
Miguel Milano was appointed as chief revenue officer, while Ariel Kelman will serve as the new chief marketing officer. The changes bring Salesforce's old guard back into the fold.
Milano had worked at Salesforce for nearly a decade and is now moving from Celonis. Meanwhile, Kelman previously served as CMO at Amazon Web Services and Oracle.
Kendall Collins, who worked as CMO at Okta and Cisco's AppDynamics, will join as chief of staff for Benioff.
Current President and COO Brian Millham is taking on several responsibilities, including Marketing, Employee Success, and Business Technology, according the report.
The memo suggests that Millham could now be the top contender as a potential Benioff successor, according to the report.
Salesforce had encountered activist investors, including Elliott Management, and Benioff responded with layoffs and other efficiency initiatives.
The activist investors have backed off considerably, after a couple of quarterly earnings results which saw Salesforce move closer to its 30% profit margin target. But the question regarding Benioff's succession plan remained, if he ever decides to step down as CEO, and the memo suggests that Millham could be a potential frontrunner.
Nearly 70% of Salesforce staff now report to Millham, according to the report.
