Regulators "really need to reexamine" publicly-traded financial firms' fiduciary duties to their clients, SEC chief Mary Schapiro says at a summit today. She also noted there remain "lots of tricky questions" about firms' obligations to institutional investors, who don't enjoy the same regulatory protections as individual investors.
