The bank bailout part of TARP has turned a pretty profit so far, according to a report by investment bank Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. With around $137B already repaid, returns have averaged 10%, so it's "pretty clear that unless the economy just craters, the bank portion of TARP will be profitable."
