While the BLS reported consumer prices rose 0.5%, the Cleveland Fed's alternative measure (the 16% trimmed-mean CPI, which excludes the most volatile changes) rose just 0.1%, an annualized 1.6%. In the past 12 months, Cleveland Fed's trimmed-mean CPI rose 0.8% and median CPI rose 0.6%.
