CoreLogic reports that the number of Americans who are underwater on their mortgages rose to 11.1M households, or 23.1% of all mortgaged homes, in Q4 2010, up from the prior quarter. "Negative equity holds millions of borrowers captive in their homes, unable to move or sell their properties," notes CoreLogic's chief economist.
