The head of the U.K. Debt Management Office takes a bow, saying gilts are benefiting from government moves to reduce the deficit. Also helping is the long average maturity of U.K. debt, 13.5 years. The yield spread between gilts and bunds, sits at 34 basis points vs. over 80 a year ago.
