China's HSBC composite PMI rose to 51.8 in December from 51.6 in November, although the services index fell to 51.7 from 52.1. The official PMI rose to 56.1 from 55.6. Either way, "the underlying strength of the services sectors improved in terms of stronger new business flows and employment growth," says HSBC. This, along with accelerating manufacturing growth, suggests that GDP grew 8% in Q4. (PR)
