South Korea plans to set aside up to $50B in a fund designed to pay for an eventual reunification with North Korea. Unification Minister Yo Wook Il says lawmakers will pass the legislation this year to save for the peaceful transition that he expects to happen sometime during his lifetime without bankrupting the nation: "Reunification won’t result in a debt crisis or multiple sovereign-rating downgrades as most people fear."
