Pretty satisfied to be (very) partially hedged with $BTAL and $VQT.

Then I look at all the rest of my portfolio plus my small crypto-stash... Meh... How is $SLV and $GLD doing? Finally hedging the rest of the pile?
These are positions I've initiated for the short term that I still haven't sold on a bounce yet and are slightly under water: $AIG $AMC $ESTE $FIT $LNVGY $PCG $TAP $VXX ... enjoy

$VQT has a sell stop on it, a useful feature for fire-and-forget. Anyway... that's one of the thing I'll see if it's worth it on margin. A single investment, focusing on the leverage and "peace" of mind. If shit really hits the fan, this will hedge the rest of my holdings.

No, you can hedge with volatility also. You can get fancy with $VQTS or $VQT that dynamically allocates between $SPY and $VXX (more or less)

Now that's innovation. Been using $VQT but left it because bull market too strong after 2011. This might be the answer.

$PHDG and $VQT have the same hedging power as shorting $SPY or buying $SH in bear markets and add more gains in bull markets.

I wrote a SA article about that, refused because of my bad English (it's my 3rd language). I will try again...

VIX trades do tend to be short term. The only long term trade is either use an alternate vehicle like VQT or long XIV after a spike.

Another option is VQT. Just stumbled on it. Looks promising at first glance.
