I'm a lawyer and accountant who's devoted over three decades to advising clients on complex corporate finance, disclosure and reporting, and corporate governance issues. I've held board seats and executive suite positions in the mining, oil and gas and battery industries, and served as issuer's counsel for several SEC registration statements. My decades of experience give me a unique insider's view of the public and private equity markets and an encyclopedic knowledge of the business and technical issues I write about.
Over the last decade, I've earned a global following for my articles on the energy storage and alternative energy sectors. I've contributed to Seeking Alpha, The Street, NASDAQ.com, AltEnergyStocks, InvestorIntel and Batteries International Magazine.
I'm a 1979 graduate of the Notre Dame Law School and a 1976 graduate of the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. I was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1980 and licensed to practice as a CPA in 1981.
My diverse experience in corporate finance, natural resource development and energy storage give me a unique and sometimes unsettling perspective on the technical, economic and supply chain challenges facing the battery industry.

I am italian independent investor and living in Rome.
I have a strong interest in tactical strategies, and have developed quantitative investment methods through rigorous backtesting and numerical analysis.
I have written 2 dutch books on value investing (search bol.com for "ruerd heeg"). As a mathematician (Ph.D.) I use quantitative strategies with statistically extremely high returns: net-nets and companies with low Enterprise Value/Earnings before Tax & Interest (EV/EBIT). When ranking on several metrics the 30-50 best stocks have 20-30% average annual returns. Since such stocks are rare I invest globally. See my article "Use Your Extraordinary Edge With These 2 Investment Strategies" (author's picks left below). Send me a message with your email address to get example articles of my premium research on Seeking Alpha.
Old Geezer that listened to parents that lived through the Great Depression. Am a USAF veteran and proud grandpa of 13 grandkids. I am trying to learn enough to be a good investor and have met many great and tolerant (I ask a lot of questions) people here on SA.
I am an independent contractor in instructional design & development, organizational performance improvement. Presently a doctoral candidate in instructional systems, investigating performance support systems and mobile learning applications. I'm particularly interested in energy issues: efficiency, storage, security, sustainability, etcetera. In 2009 I completed construction of a LEED-certified residence incorporating SIPS envelope, geothermal HVAC, photovoltaic array, battery bank for backup power. I tend to be an early adopter but try not to be on the bleeding edge of innovation--I've found that being too early to the party can be as painful as being too late.
