My name is Rick and I am a non-practicing CPA who does some part-time consulting. I have always been interested in the markets and began investing from approx 15 years old. I've been educating my sons Evan and Todd since they were about 15 years old and they have a nice little portfolio at Vanguard. My portfolio is primarily value and dividend based as well as allocations to MLP's and REIT 's. I use the equity in my accounts to sell naked puts on quality companies. The return far exceeds a cash secured put and I have no problem owning any stock if it were put to me.
MBA from Univ. of Texas 15 years with one of the major "too big to fail banks" in commercial construction lending. Now I own my own "hard money bank". Most of my money is invested in hard money mortgages. Over time, I will invest less money in mortgages for poor people because the government is becoming more and more intrusive.
From 2001 to the current, I have been an investor in distressed real estate and I have provided mezzanine financing to real estate investors. From 1995 to 2001 I was a professional angel investor and consultant to early stage high technology companies in the ares of finance, corporate governance and capital raising. From 1984 to 1995 I was the CFO, COO and an owner of a high technology company that provided financial services software and services. I was a licensed CPA for 35 years, but I practiced as a CPA only for the first six of those years.
i have an MBA from the University of North Carolina. Go Heels!
