I began investing in 2006, without any real inkling to what I was doing. Now a decade in, I've got some momentum and I'm excited to share my findings and opinions here on Seeking Alpha with you -- my audience. I may not always be right, but of course that goes for any analyst. But my promise is to take each article as an opportunity to improve from my last.
I'm convinced that investing in great companies is the best way to create long-term wealth. It's a shame that I see many of my peers of the millennial generation stay away from stocks just because they fear the unknown. Let's work together to demystify stocks.
A couple of my favorite financial quotes:
"In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty." - Proverbs 14:23
"Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox." - Proverbs 14:4
Researching and writing at the corner of Main St. & Wall St. where real estate often intersects with trends in: technology, ecommerce, office/industrial, healthcare, cloud computing, energy infrastructure & green initiatives.
Data Center Knowledge - I cover business and investing news in a weekly column: DCK Investor Edge. Sr Contributor writing about data centers REITs -- a new and growing asset class -- attempting to bridge the gap between technology & traditional REIT investors.
In Q4 2015, it became clear to me that public cloud "friend or foe," was going to be a positive catalyst for Data Center REITs. The global public cloud giants follow a bifurcated strategy of owning and leasing space. Another paradigm shift involved Amazon Landlords, industrial REITs which own fulfillment, warehouse/distribution, and smaller "last mile" urban infill properties, and the DC REITs which support exponential growth of the AWS public cloud (as well as MSFT Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Salesforce, and others).
Many SA readers have followed my work over the past few years to profit from my expertise, research and analysis. The majority of my insights and analysis are now published on REITs 4 Alpha, an SA Marketplace service where members get real-time access on Live Chat each day the market is open.
I have over 25 years of experience as a: developer of institutional quality office and industrial facilities, general contractor, homebuilder, managing general partner for private limited partnerships, and have performed consulting and transactional real estate services for others, including entitlements for planned commercial/office/industrial developments.
Past job experience included: V.P. of Energy Services for a Florida based Mechanical Contracting company, which subsequently was acquired by EMCOR (NYSE: EME). Responsibilities included development and "financial engineering" of projects to reduce energy consumption and total cost of ownership solutions, partnered with the two major Florida electric utilities, and private companies, (including Enron Energy Services!).
Education: UCLA - BA Economics, including graduate coursework in Real Estate Finance.
Masters Degree from St. Thomas University - Miami, FL
I am a value oriented, contrarian investor with almost 3 decades of experience in the stock market and fifteen years of experience investing in real estate. In the stock market I have found that the best investing opportunities occur when quality companies are priced for incredible stress or even complete failure by the ever manic-depressive Mr. Market. I find myself the most interested in companies when the market is overwhelmingly pessimistic towards them.

Years of experience working for a registered independent advisor ("RIA"), structuring client accounts, performing due diligence on separately managed accounts, and performing fixed income and equity research. Worked at a bulge bracket investment bank on the trading desk for mortgage-backed securities ("MBS") as well as within derivatives trading, finished my time there in internal risk and audit.

I manage a conservative portfolio of blue-chip equities. I target dividend-paying blue chips on sale. The majority of my articles will focus on what I know best (and what is under-covered on Seeking Alpha), Canadian mid and large caps. REITs are my focus, though I dabble in everything. Ranked 3rd on Seeking Alpha for Services stocks!

I have been a successful private investor in the market for the last 20 years. My focus was mostly on Tech/Internet when I started, but about 15 years ago I became extremely interested in the Gold and Silver sector as I anticipated a major bull run.
My in-depth research on gold and silver companies began during 2003 or so, and it has been a consistent passion since that time. I'm familiar with their stories, their stock patterns, their highs and lows, their operations/projects, their successes and failures, their management teams and turnover at the top, and all other facets of these precious metal companies.
This sector has been my singular focus since I started sharing my ideas on Seeking Alpha back in 2014, as I anticipated that gold and silver would soon be bottoming out and a massive bull market would unfold. That has started to occur, as I timed the January 2016 low in precious metals stocks very well, and 2016 was one of my best years in the market, right up there with 2009 when I bought tech at the bottom. I still follow the tech/internet space and I plan to eventually jump fully back into that sector, but it's not where my attention is at the moment as I see much better opportunities in gold and silver.
I believe in buying value, and not chasing the next hot stock. I use several basic investing principles, the main one being buying the balance sheet. I wait for opportunities to present themselves and then establish positions. I believe in doing your homework, and I have a very research intensive focus.

I am currently in my 4th year of Bachelor of Engineering in the Engineering Physics discipline with specializations in Nanotechnology and Micro-Electrical-Mechanical Systems. It’s no secret the discipline and specialization I have pursued is not as popular as the Mechanical and Electrical Discipline, and why would it be? Who would want to spend several thousands of hours of reading literature, running simulations and performing labs on topics as new as tandem organic photovoltaic architectures, CMOS fabrication process, quantum mechanical processes in modern devices, while still having to be virtually as competent as our counterparts in electrical, software and computer? Well the answer is approximately 40 of the 1500 or so engineers graduating next year. One thing that all these students have in common, including myself, besides the obvious sleep deprivation and copious caffeine consumption is the tenacity to not sleep till anything and everything that comes our way has been mastered. With that being said, I approach my research with the same rigor and thoroughness I have become accustomed to over the past four years. In conclusion, I aim to bring my best independent thought to the readers as I would expect being an investor myself.
