Michael Saeltzer was born and raised in Sacramento. He attended both public and private schools before attending Jesuit High School. After graduating he attended U.C. Berkeley and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric. Michael returned to Sacramento and began teaching at a visual and performing arts public school. He established an excellent reputation for inspiring all his students and their parents. Michael achieved particular success with challenging students. Recognizing the critical role a child’s family and community play in the development of the whole child, Michael focused his attention exclusively on innovative family and community strengthening projects such as Sacramento’s Wraparound program. At the Stanford Home for Children, Michael was rapidly promoted into a supervisory position and served as an integral part of a management team entrusted to direct the activities of the Sacramento Wraparound Program. Michael directly supervised up to 40 specialists working with the most complex and severe cases of Child Protective Service. Michael was also involved in billing compliance and improving outcomes through the implementation of his new system of self-management. Later he worked as the Community Programs Manager at the Children’s Network of Solano County where he coordinated the Family Resource Network centers, providing technical assistance, sustainability planning, strategic oversight including grant development, implementation and reporting Most recently Michael served as the Program Manager of the Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Programs - the nation’s only professional training programs which combine nursing and medical training at the U.C. Davis School of Medicine. While serving in this position he completed an MBA at C.S.U. and gained 5+ years of high level experience while charged with administrate and financial oversight and ensuring the program’s continues to excel in achieving its 30 year Mission. Specific areas Michael managed included, IT management, distance education technologies within a higher education setting, finance, accounting, personnel, grant administration, accreditation, and policy/procedure interpretation & implementation. Michael also served as the principal administrative advisor to the Chair and CAO of the Department of Family & Community Relations and the Director of the FNP/PA Program. Throughout Michael’s career he has earned the trust and respect of his peers and his work ethic is excellent.
