I am a retired baby boomer who enjoyed writing in my former profession. I have been an active investor and follower of the stock market for many years. Now that I am retired from my former profession I am enjoying writing for Seeking Alpha in an effort to join both interests into one new endeavor. Researching, generating a thesis, assembling a coherent interesting story, responding to highly favorable and highly critical comments provides for an unparalleled learning experience. For those so inclined, I highly recommend it. Writing under the pseudonym"out of ignorance", I very much regard investing as a learning process. Investing failures are tuition paid. Investing successes enter the trove of lessons learned.

I write about dividend growth stocks on my website http://www.dividendgrowthinvestor.com/. I am mostly a buyer of high quality dividend stocks, with solid competitive advantages. My holding period is forever, as long as the dividend is at least maintained. I tend to concentrate my efforts on stocks which grow earnings and dividends, which provides outstanding total returns over time. I only focus my attention to stocks with sustainable dividend payments. I am also a firm believer in diversification accross sectors and geographic locations. I have been focusing my attention particularly to companies that regularly increase dividends to their shareholders since 2007. On my blog I share my thoughts on investing in dividend paying stocks that have consistently increased their payments over time and tips on growing my dividend income. I hope that my blog will serve as an inspiration for my readers and that it would change their financial lives for the better. DividendInvestr is a start-up finance website focusing on dividend stocks, fund holdings, and investing gurus. The site is edited by Serkan Unal who has been in financial markets for more than 10 years. Serkan has an engineering degree with a strong quantitative background.
My name is Mike McNeil and I’m the author of The Dividend Guy Blog & The Dividend Monk along with the owner and portfolio manager here at Dividend Stocks Rock (DSR). I also have a service on Seeking Alpha's Marketplace called Dividend Growth Rocks, aimed at investors who are interested in both income and capital growth from dividend stocks. I earned my bachelor degree in finance-marketing, own a CFP title along with an MBA in financial services. Besides being a passionate investor, I’m also happily married with three beautiful children. I started my online venture to educate people about investing and to be able to spend more time with my family.
I started my career in the financial industry back in 2003. I earned several promotions along with a good pile of diplomas. I had lots of fun working with clients in private banking for half a decade, but thought I could do more with my life.
In 2016, I decided to take a leap of faith and left everything behind to travel across North America and Central America with my family. We drove through nine countries and stayed three months in Costa Rica before returning home. This was an eye-opening adventure that led me in 2017 to quit my job in the financial industry and pursue my dream; helping others with their personal finance through my investing websites.
You just found the reason why I quit my suit & tie job!
After having competed an honours degree in Psychology, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, I found myself a graduate student doing doctoral work in mathematical statistics. A kind professor of mine convinced me to drop Mathematical Statistics for Economical Statistics and try to make a fortune in the stock market.
Instead of choosing to finish my PhD, I am currently now self-employed in my small but rapidly growing business as a Behavior Consultant. My consultant work ranges from financial advise to life coaching and even consulting with the local humane society about animal behavior.
My obsession with everything to do with numbers and behavior has made me a successful investor, a successful poker player and a real bore at parties.

Orcam Financial Group, LLC (www.orcamgroup.com) is a low fee financial services firm offering asset management, personal advisory, consulting and educational services. Pragmatic Capitalism (http://pragcap.com) was founded by Cullen Roche in the midst of the financial crisis of 2008. Mr. Roche foresaw many of the events that led up to the crisis and felt that the government was slow to react and when it did finally react, responded with the wrong medicine.
Mr. Roche's primary areas of expertise include global macro portfolio construction, quantitative risk management, monetary economics financial accounting and behavioral finance. Prior to establishing his own business, Mr. Roche worked at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management where he worked on a team overseeing $500MM+ in assets under management. Upon leaving Merrill Lynch, Mr. Roche managed a private investment partnership which took advantage of accounting irregularities ahead of major corporate events. The strategy generated substantial positive alpha (high risk adjusted returns) without a single negative year of returns from 2005-2011. After running the fund Mr. Roche transitioned to institutional consulting where he worked with large institutions and traders to help analyze the macroeconomic impacts of Quantitative Easing and the way these new unusual policies would impact flow of funds, the banking sector and macroeconomic accounts. He has since transitioned back to retail asset management to better serve the much needed retail space with sophisticated but low fee asset management and financial planning services.
Mr. Roche is also a prolific writer. In addition to the daily musings on his website, he is the author of the popular book “Pragmatic Capitalism: What Every Investor Needs to Know About Money and Finance” as well as “Understanding the Modern Monetary System”, one of the top 10 all-time most downloaded research papers on the SSRN academic research network. He is also the author of the popular white paper "Understanding Modern Portfolio Construction". He was named one of the “Top Wall Street Economists, Experts and Opinion Leaders” of 2011 by Wall Street Economists and was named one of the “101 Best Finance People” by Business Insider where he was described as “one of the most influential economic thinkers today.” In 2015 Mr. Roche was named one of the “40 Under 40” most influential people in finance by InvestmentNews. He is regularly cited in the Wall Street Journal, on CNBC and in the Financial Times.
Mr. Roche is a Georgetown University alumnus, growing up in the DC area and now living in Southern California with his wife Erica, troublesome collie Cal and 4 irritable laying hens. In addition to being a financial dork Cullen is an avid outdoorsman, mediocre gardener, proficient complex carbohydrate consumer (i.e., loves brownies and cake) and finisher of one of the most difficult IRONMAN races at Cabo in 2015.
