I search for companies that are undervalued due to fear that have strong fundamentals in order to buy long, and companies that are overvalued due to greed that have weaknesses such as poor free cash flow or an unviable business model in order to short them. As Warren Buffet recommends: buy fear and sell greed. When I find potential candidates, I research the daylights out of them and only choose the best opportunities. To give you an idea of some the stocks I’ve focused on, in the past I successfully shorted Twitter, GoPro, Garmin, TrueCar, FCX, Wayfair, Pandora and Transocean, and was successfully long Cisco, Expedia, Goodyear Tire, Facebook, Apple, Celgene and Delta. Many of those are no longer good shorts or longs. My current favorite long stock is Iconix (ICON). I was previously a consultant for executives at companies such as Fidelity Investments and Google, including the Vice-president of Sales at Google. Prior to that I owned and operated two retail stores that I sold, and before that I was a journalist. I’ve been investing for 22 years in stocks, bonds, commodities and options. I spend a lot of my free time researching investments and donate half of the gains to charity.
Over 35 years of investing in individual stocks. Extensive business experience with small to mid-size companies, including as CEO. Background as a physician and pharmaceutical inventor and entrepreneur.
I am a graduate of the U.S Army Ranger school and a former member of the 1st Ranger Battalion and The Old Guard (U.S Army Honor Guard.) I am a retired law enforcement officer. I have approximately 16 years experience as a retail investor. I focus on value stocks, preferably with a long history of dividend growth. I occasionally write on the special situation trade and on any stock with a compelling story. I trade with 10% of my portfolio as I find trading keeps me on the market's pulse. Best of luck in your investments, Chuck

Medical doctor and independant investor. My investment strategy is to utilize my medical education, combined with market technical and fundamental analysis, to find undervalued biopharmaceutical investments which have a high likelihood of increasing in value over a specified time period. I look for companies whose stocks have recently dropped due to technical factors, misunderstood data or undervalued market opportunity among other factors.

(Age 48) I've been a founder of, board member of, or executive of technology startups in mass storage, graphic arts, face recognition, and hospital information systems. Painful experience has lead me to believe very strongly that we're all a lot less smart than we think in bull markets. Lots of fun to be pitching companies in 1999 . . . by 2002, not so much.
Notwithstanding a pretty firm conviction that outpeformance is more chance than design, I enjoy the search for very out of the way opportunities which may advantage the individual investor.
Never been in the securities business, not selling anything . . . my bad advice is disinterested.
Spent my entire 28 year career on Wall Street with over a decade at Bear Stearns. No "Wall Street Titan" in real life but WST is just a catchy alias I use on SA. Over the past decade, I have gained a significant amount of knowledge regarding the stem cell sector and have launched a premium service covering this long out of favor but exciting area.
Wall Street Titan Research
Curis, Inc. (CRIS) - NasdaqGM rated best investment going forward in Biotech for the remainder of 2014 and certainly for 2015.
Past Results - Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ACHN) was issued a best investment rating on April 14, 2014 and it's hoped that on June 16, 2014 that investors locked in profit near the highs. The high that day was $8.05. The best investment rating was issued from the $2.70's area.
Athersys, Inc. (ATHX) - NasdaqCM In 2013 ATHX in the $1.60's area was issued a best investment notice. Followed up with several articles pointing out its potential. It's hoped investors took profit over $4 in early 2014. Today ATHX and its MultiStem is of high risk with one "no efficacy" phase II trial in 2014 reporting. For this reason ATHX is a buy only under $1.60 again today. This will limit downside to some degree if MultiStem fails again to show efficacy in a second phase II trial.
Other past calls were CLDX, ACUR and ALNY.

I manage a sub-account and source outside investment managers for a family office with $500mm under management. I am a deep value investor and am very open minded and opportunistic in the hunt for bargains. My interests often include the esoteric - international developed and emerging markets, the smallest of small public companies, stocks that do not trade daily, net nets, stocks selling for less than net cash, etc. I am trying to become better at identifying good businesses and find my place in an age of artificial intelligence and informational disadvantage. My core competency and passion is making evidence-based, well-researched financial decisions with a bias (sometimes to a fault) for paying extremely low prices. This can take many forms - for example one of my joys outside of investing is finding bargains on personal purchases through thrift shops, Chinese e-commerce websites, craigslist, etc.
I passed the CFA Level 1 Exam in June 2017 and plan to finish the program over the next few years.
Analyst and Fund Manager with almost 20 years investment experience. Coverage includes a variety of industries, with a focus on technology.
Particularly focused on value stocks, poorly understood or under-followed situations, and contrarian perspectives.
Primarily invest in special situations with value that is poorly understood or not fully appreciated, or where we believe there is a highly asymetric risk/reward profile. Also look for long/short ideas in mid/larger cap names where we believe we have a variant view, and the market is dramatically mispricing value.
