John is the CEO of Eureka Investment, Inc., a technology platform and marketplace for providing personal financial services and knowledge to individuals and institutions. John is currently a CFA candidate and has been involved in most areas of financial investments since his early days at UC Berkeley. He began his career as an intern/asset manager for risk analysis at a mortgage backed securities hedge fund in 2007. Quite an inauspicious start. The fund did well but as 2008 came around and Lehman along with other Wall Street incumbents collapsed, he started to develop his current investment focus of long term value while keeping an open mindset based on fact checking and constant and consistent scrutiny of new investment hypotheses. He followed up his stint in asset management with 6 years of building investment algorithms and models for institutional clients and Wall Street banks at Thomson Reuters, including most of the big players like Blackrock, Goldman, Bridgewater, etc. Having seen a wide spectrum of investment strategies and being involved in the stress tests and also backtesting of said models, John is currently using Eureka as a platform to teach and help millennials focus on saving and investing their money by simplifying their short and long term goals into actionable investment goals. Eureka is primarily emphasizing real estate and equity value strategies since it reduces two immediate pain points for millennials: cash outflow (for rent) and wealth building (retirement/financial independence). He plans on adding more asset classes and free financial lessons as the company grows. Influences: Warren Buffet, Charlie Munger, Seth Klarman, Ray Dalio, Chuck Carnavale, David Merkel, Jeff Miller, Cullen Roche and many other great value investors/thinkers.
