Extended Range EVs, The Next Revolution
A few months ago, a friend of mine who also happens to trade the markets, entered into the possiblities of what was to come in regards to the advent of electrical vehicles with extended range batteries, which would allow them to close the gap and directly compete with gas powered automobiles.
I must have had a bit of intuitive insight, because, I stated then that it was just a matter of time before Tesla, the leader of EV technology, announce a long-range battery, that would allow EV to travel 500 to 700 miles between charges. Well, it's not quite that good yet, but Tesla has announced that its roadster will test this concept on a drive from San Francisco to LA, which is slightly more than 400 miles.
But considering the hilly terrain of the west coast, one has to wonder exactly how far will this extended range allow you to drive on a relatively flat surface. I'd bet the range would be between 500 - 600 miles.
I also predicted the falling of oil prices, which I believe indicates a concerted effort to squash the oncoming revolution of extended range EVs. Well, this has all come to pass, which means the war is on...
