By Jonathan Liss

Cutting his teeth at top institutional firms, Dan Victor, aka BOOX Research, decided to step out on his own in 2018 as an independent investor and market strategist. An MBA in finance and CFA charter holder, BOOX combines bottom-up data-driven, fundamentals-focused analysis with a top-down review of the macro trends to arrive at high-conviction investing ideas that are unencumbered by emotional thinking.

He has taken his approach to an entirely different level with the launch of his Seeking Alpha Marketplace service, Conviction Dossier, which he runs with fellow SA contributor Harrison Schwartz. Subscribers to Conviction Dossier gain access to Model portfolios, a regularly updated watch list, Industry tracker spreadsheets, video commentary and an active chat room.

BOOX's research is refreshingly straightforward. He reviews an idea from a variety of angles and finishes with a straightforward recommendation. For today's conversation, I wanted to do just that with three of his top ETF picks for 2021. We start the discussion around each of BOOX's three picks with a focus on his overall thesis, stress testing that from a variety of angles. From there, we proceed to the specifics of why he chose the specific ETF he did from among the many that were potentially available to play his thesis.

For 2021, BOOX Research's top three ETF picks are:

1) iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSEARCA:IEMG)

2) ProShares Short 20+ Year Treasury ETF (NYSEARCA:TBF)

3) Vanguard
