The Department of Transportation has issued an order paving the way for Alaska Air's (NYSE:ALK) $1.9B acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines (NASDAQ:HA).
The merger will formally take effect on or about Sept. 18. Hawaiian is up 4% on the news.
