Gold slides for second straight day as trade optimism boosts risk appetite

Gold futures fell for a second straight session Thursday, as optimism grows about the potential for more trade deals following the U.S.-Japan agreement and apparent progress in negotiations between the U.S. and the European Union, resulting in decreased demand for safe-haven gold.
