- Evergy (NYSE:EVRG) inks agreements with Bluescape Energy Partners, Elliott Investment Management L.P. and certain of their respective affiliates.
- As part of the agreement, C. John Wilder, Executive Chairman of Bluescape, and former U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, will join the Evergy Board of Directors, effective March 1.
- In connection with the agreement, Bluescape will be making an equity investment of ~$115M by purchasing newly issued Evergy common shares, with an option to purchase additional shares over the next three years at price 20% higher than the current market price.
- Wilder has previously served on the board of many private and public companies, including NRG and TXU. He served in executive officer roles in TXU, Entergy and Royal Dutch/Shell Group.
- Senator Mary Landrieu served in the U.S. Senate for three terms, first elected in 1996. Senator Landrieu currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor at Van Ness Feldman LLP. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Tyler Technologies.
