- Pharmacy retailer Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:WBA) and Pearl Health, a New York-based service provider to the healthcare industry, announced Tuesday a collaboration to accelerate the delivery of value-based care (VBC).
- In contrast to a fee-for-service (FFS) model, which depends on historical billing or annual fee schedules, VBC links reimbursements to the quality of care delivered, rewarding healthcare providers for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Under their partnership, Walgreens (WBA) and Pearl Health will focus on community-based primary care physicians to expand value-based care.
- Per the terms, Pearl Health will deliver technology and insight solutions, while Walgreens (WBA) will provide complementary services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
- The Deerfield, Illinois-headquartered health giant will also partner with healthcare providers to help patients switch from hospital-based settings to home-based care after discharge.
