Options trading volume has moved higher in the last few days on Sportsman's Warehouse (SPWH) and Ebix Inc. (EBIX). The most overbought stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index are Willis Towers Watson (WTW) and Splunk (SPLK). The most oversold stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index are Blackstone (BX), Goldman Sachs (GS) and Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL).
- All week - The United Auto Workers strike continues, though the focus is now on Stellantis (STLA) after the UAW reached a tentative deal with Ford (F) and amid reports that General Motors (GM) is nearing an accord with the union.
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include McDonald's (MCD), Pinterest (NYSE:PINS) and Transocean (RIG).
- All day - Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is holding a product event that they dubbed "scary fast."
- All day - Broadcom (AVGO) has said its planned acquisition of VMware (NYSE:VMW) is scheduled to close.
- 8:30am - Western Digital (WDC) to hold earnings call amid reports their talks with Kioxia over a deal have ended.
- 10:30am - Dallas Fed Manufacturing Index for October.
- 2:00pm - Status conference in the DOJ's trial to block the JetBlue (JBLU) purchase of Spirit Airlines (NYSE:SAVE).
- 4:30pm - VF Corp. (VFC) will hold its Q3 earnings call after reports that activist investors have accumulated the stock and are pushing for sale of some brands.
Tuesday - October 31
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Anheuser-Busch (BUD), Amgen (AMGN), Caesars Entertainment (CZR), Caterpillar (CAT), First Solar (FSLR) and Pfizer (PFE).
- All day - Investor events scheduled include the 47th Annual Automotive Symposium in Las Vegas with companies including AutoNation (AN), AutoZone, (AZO) and Genuine Parts (GPC) attending.
- All day - DOJ trial to block JetBlue (JBLU) purchase of Spirit (SAVE) starts.
- All day - Kenvue (KVUE) IPO lockup expires.
- All day - FT: Energy Transition Summit
- 9:45am - Chicago PMI for October
- 11:00am - Denbury (DEN) shareholders vote for sale to Exxon (XOM).
Wednesday - November 1
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Airbnb (ABNB), BP (BP), CVS Health (CVS), Dupont (DD), Estee Lauder (EL), Humana (HUM), Modelez (MDLZ), Norwegian Cruise (NCLH), Qualcomm (QCOM) and Yum Brands (YUM).
- All day - Notable investor events include the 38th Annual Meeting of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer.
- All day - Chinese electric vehicle makers Nio (NIO), XPeng (XPEV), and Li Auto (LI) will be on watch with October deliveries due to be reported. The EV reports from China are being closely monitored amid a pricing battle in the sector.
- 9:45am - S&P Global US manufacturing PMI for October.
- 10:00am - US ISM manufacturing for October.
- 10:00am - New Relic (NEWR) shareholder vote on $6.5B sale to Francisco Partners.
- All day - Seagen (SGEN) earnings, no call. Traders are focused on Seagen (SGEN) as they await for updates on closing of Pfizer's (PFE) planned $43B acquisition.
- 2:00pm - FOMC statement
Thursday - November 2
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Apple (AAPL), Booking Holdings (BKNG), Carvana (CVNA), Coinbase (COIN), ConocoPhillips (COP), Duke Energy (DUK), Moderna (MRNA), Molson Coors (TAP), Palantir (PLTR), and Starbucks (SBUX).
- All day - Notable investor events include Herc Holdings (HRI) investor day and Constellation Brands (STZ) investor day.
- 7:30am - Challenger job cuts.
- 8:30am - US initial jobless claims.
- 10:00am - US factory orders, durable goods orders for September.
Friday - November 3
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Bloomin Brand (BLMN), CBOE (CBOE), Dominion (D), Fluor (FLR), Monster Beverage (MNST) and Restaurant Brands (QSR).
- 8:30am - The U.S. jobs report for October will be released. Economists forecast 168K job additions for the month and expect the unemployment rate at 3.8%. Average hourly earnings are expected to be up 0.3% month-over-month and 4% year-over-year. (macroeconomic analysis)
