Hawaiian Electric (NYSE:HE) -3.9% in Friday's trading after Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives asked the company to answer more questions and provide more documents as part of an investigation into last year's deadly Lahaina wildfire.
In a letter to CEO Shelee Kimura, the House Energy and Commerce Committee said it has additional questions about Hawaiian Electric's (HE) wildfire mitigation plan and that "questions persist" about the timeline of events surrounding the fire.
The letter asked the company to provide documents and communications related to TLH Project Management, a consultant Hawaiian Electric (HE) hired in 2019 to help develop its wildfire mitigation plan.
Hawaiian Electric (HE) has said its equipment started a small fire on the edge of Lahaina on the morning of the deadly fire, but it said that fire was extinguished by firefighters, and another that started nearby hours later destroyed the town.
