Comcast: One Of The Best Times To Buy by Gen Alpha

@enron-hubbard just to be clear, my margin assumption for mobile is around 60% not 90%. The broadband margin is 90+% That is the cost of not having everything run on your own network.

The question is for the 30% gain in margin how much capex do you need. It isn’t worth it right now, it might be if each they merge and have 50 million lines between them.

@energyguy921 are you really doubling down dude? It's actually ok- because we all make mistakes, but what separates the smart from the rest is the ability to say... oh yeah you're right.

Let me try to draw it in crayons for you.

If I own one share of stock and the dividend yield is 1.5%. My yield is 1.5%

If I own one share of stock and I receive dividends for 2 shares of stock, my yield is 3%.

Do you understand now?

More Debt and lower margins but improved sales metrics and huge share buybacks.

On balance seems like asymmetric upside

@George6279 it will be called when it floats because the current price of debt will be below the yield on the preferred. so you capture about 12% on the capital side thats about it

@enron-hubbard that's what I mean- at 4x leverage you will retain equity value at 6x you don't.

@PennyPlanSupporter why do you think it's necessary? Their debt is manageable and reasonably priced.

What benefit does this provide either financially, strategically or operationally? I can't see it

@old maid i never understand these type of comments.

1. When companies have excess capital what do you expect them to do with it? It’s either keep it, invest it, or distribute it. It seems like the company doesn’t want to do the first two, so it’s doing the third. The options for giving the money back to shareholders is limited, recurring dividend, one time or buybacks. The first two are tax inefficient but buybacks are. It increases ownership of what you have, and if you want a dividend just sell the amount of share of what the buyback is. Your ownership stays the same.

2.As for issuing shares, do you want management to be aligned with shareholders? Well that’s what it does. If you just pay them a bonus and salary- are they aligned? How much more do you have to pay out in direct expenses to get talented people? Equity issues are cost effective and better than paying it dir3ctly.

3. As for insiders selling. People sell for many reasons, to pay for a house, to diversify, etc. they buy for only one reason. Because it’s a good deal. The only thing to look at is are insiders buying? If they are it’s a good indicator (not perfect) that the stock is undervalued. If insiders are selling it’s a neutral indicator, and has little predictive value

@Jboosted92 I mean he's obviously smart and been successful over time. I just review his value picks and find them to be marginal, and his commitment on many is poorly timed/ selling before a reversion to the mean.

I have no idea what your "GDS up 400%" means.

You are just way off on your assumptions,

They said capex is peaked this year, so capex should go down, not up. You assume an Opex increase despite there actually being a decrease.

So your fundamentally assumption is wildly incorrect.

@Nils de Graaf perhaps you didn’t read it?

Retained 90% of the ACP customers, this year is the capex peak at 12b. Which would imply it being lower going forward,

@Carl 123 short sighted and ultimately incorrect statement.

At risk compensation aligns interests, a portion of buybacks should be in stock based comp as long as the total share count goes down.

@I_Am_The_Walrus prices have started to come down. Venice is nice- look at Bradenton, Port Charlotte or ft myers for less expensive stuff, not as nice as Sarasota, Naples, and Cape Coral but if you select wisely you save a bunch.

Easy money has been made. C has been my largest position for too long, but average cost for me is a bit above 40. Now comes the hard part, still think they are undervalued but much less so now. Trimming to a normal size for me.

Oh poor Harry, perhaps age has finally taken its toll on you. The fed says its policies caused the Great Depression. Which it did. So when someone says- it’s my fault I believe them.
