I guess I'm late getting the news. When did they say they were cutting out the dividend? Is that the reason for the 15% drop today?

Most Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of economy, poll shows by Rob Johnson, SA News Editor

@MentallyGone I wouldn't believe any poll or information from the media. They have shown they are for sale to the highest bidder.

No one would be cooking the "sentiment" books would they? Trump was going to be beat badly in the election also wasn't he? Whether you are Repub or Dem it doesn't make it right for them to skew the data and report what they want reported. I have ZERO confidence in the media now a days.

@steve7074 I believe government has embedded themselves in way too many areas of life. You can't hardly go to the restroom now a days without some kind of help or premission from the government. This is not what the USA was established on.

@Yanks56 I'm not in a high density market. USPS delivers nearly all our amazon packages to our home and you ought to see the USPS carrier's trucks and cars loaded down to the gills with packages. It's not an idea. It's a fact.

Walgreens shares rally as turnaround gains traction by Amy Thielen, SA News Editor
jamesy1959
@Ted Waller My local walgreens not only doesn't keep their signage lit up but they have a steady stream of people working there who are just waiting for an opening at McDonald's or Burger King to open up to change jobs. You can't count on whether their shelves will be restocked with normal every day goods. I've started going to the General Dollar store down the street for the few odds and ends I need.

Baidu: Too Cheap To Ignore by The Asian Investor
jamesy1959
I would ignore it if I didn't already own it. Down 25% after 8 buys since June 2023 averaging down in cost each time. There won't be a 9th buy of it for me.

I wouldn't put a cent into Walgreen's stock. They can't even afford to keep their stores signage lit nor keep trash from surrounding their buildings. Not a company that I have a good feeling about.

Dividend Growth Bi-Weekly Chat 12/09/2024 by DGI Chat
jamesy1959
@Mathematical_Investor Yes sir. In the trust account the non-qualified dividends get taxed heavily being taxed at 37% federal plus about 4.4% state tax instead of 20% federal and 2.2% state tax for qualified dividends on stocks that are held and never touched.

@DividendInvestorInMinnesota Of course his math is wrong. He is trying to build a case on assumptions to slam the winner of the election. And I believe his numbers are skewed. Estimated total US census is 335 million. His numbers add up to 245 million total. Are you telling me that out of 335 million people in the US that only 90 million are under the age to vote and are not registered to vote? I would believe that younger people make up more than 28% of the population.

How I Repurposed My Late Father's Trust Account by Retired Investor
jamesy1959
@Millionaire Neighbor Another way to look at it is what if you invest and save and use a trust to "hide" your money in case of the need for a nursing home or divorce or lawsuit and you die in your sleep one night? Not that it will matter to the one who dies because they are out of the equation but what about all the higher income taxes paid through the years in the name of "protecting" the assets? I'm thinking unless one is at real risk of any of the "problems of life" that we are better off keeping cash assets out of a trust and pay normal tax rates on gains.
